View full detailsWe offer three main types of electric bikes for you to choose from, depending on what you'll be using them for most. Let's take a look at the different types and why you might be able to use them:
Electric mountain bikes are some of the most common types, and they're also the most popular! This is because they're versatile enough to use on biking trails and public roads, letting you use them most days - whether that's commuting or taking a thrilling ride at the local bike trail park. Electric mountain bikes are just like traditional mountain bikes but with a motor to assist you when pedalling, which many riders appreciate as it means they can stop and enjoy their surroundings while exercising!
If you're a beginner to e-bikes, many consider this one of the best options thanks to their versatility and adaptability. You can choose whether you want the pedal assist on or not, so it's up to you how you tackle each stretch of the road.
Just like mountain e-bikes, fat tyre bikes are also designed to help you as much as possible when riding. The main difference is the thickness of the wheels with fat tyre bikes having wheels thicker than four inches. This gives you better traction wherever you're riding whether that be a trail or road on your daily commute. A better connection with the ground should prevent skidding and slips, which can help you get acquainted with the faster speeds that e-bikes tend to reach.
Again, this is a wonderful option for beginners as they can help you get used to pedal assist. Fat tyre bikes are also great for off-roading but are often heavier than most riders would like, so the additional pedal assist can help you keep riding for longer.
We also sell a selection of folding electric bikes which are excellent for commuters and daily riders alike. Just like mountain e-bikes and fat tyre bikes, these bikes come with a motor that helps with pedal assistance to keep you going for longer without so much fatigue. Imagine being able to cycle to work without having to use so much energy - that would certainly perk up our mornings!
Folding electric bikes have a folding mechanism on the frame that lets you store them in smaller spaces easily, making them perfect for commuting and riding about town. These bikes are nippy, convenient, and easy to store—what's not to like?
Before you buy your electric bike, we highly recommend you check the local laws and rules surrounding e-bikes to make sure you're happy with everything you need to follow. Here are the laws regarding e-bikes on the Gold Coast:
You can ride an electric bike on all Queensland roads and paths except where bikes are prohibited.
You'll need to follow the rights and responsibilities of all road users when riding your e-bike on public roads.
You don't need a licence or registration, and you won't need to be covered by third-party insurance.
Your electric bike must have an electric motor and be either:
A bicycle with an electric motor capable of generating no more than 200 watts of power in total, with a pedal-assist motor only.
A bicycle with an electric motor capable of generating up to 250 watts of power, but the motor cuts out at 25km/h and the pedals must be used to keep the motor operating.
