Types of e-bikes we have on offer

We currently offer three main types of e-bikes, each with a different use depending on what you're looking to get out of your bike. Let's take a look at each of them and why you might choose one:

Electric mountain bikes

Electric mountain bikes are one of the most popular options on the market, letting you explore off-road trails that might not be possible with just a push bike. Mountain e-bikes help you with pedalling, letting you enjoy each and every ride without battling with fatigue. Enjoy your trail riding more by taking a look around instead of your eyes being focused on the handlebars.

If you've been eyeing up a difficult riding trail but have been putting it off because of being intimidated by it on a push bike, now might be the perfect time to treat yourself to an electric mountain bike and finally get it done!

Fat Tyre electric bikes

Fat tyre bikes are traditionally characterised by their thicker wheels which are usually over four inches wide. The thicker wheels are perfect for a wider range of terrains, offering better comfort for beginners and advanced riders alike. Plus, with the help of the motor power, you can enjoy more of your ride without losing momentum.

Many riders really like the idea of using a fat tyre electric bike because these bikes tend to be heavier, so the motor can help alleviate some of this pressure and make it easier for you to use. You'll feel like you're riding an average mountain bike with the added benefit of thicker tyres!

Folding electric bikes

We also offer several folding electric bikes at iScoot in Melbourne, which are excellent for people hoping to use their bikes for commuting. Electric bikes can be cumbersome and much bigger than push bikes, making them difficult to store and keep.

However, the folding mechanism on some of them gives you the convenience of being able to make the frame smaller and easier to manage! What are the electric bicycle laws in Melbourne?

Before choosing your new electric bike, it's essential that you brush up on your knowledge of the laws and rules of e-biking in Melbourne. Here are some of the essential laws outlined by Transport Victoria:

  • Electric bikes don't need to be registered in Melbourne, as long as they meet the legal requirements.

  • You don't need a driver's license, but you must follow the bicycle road rules.

  • The bike must have limited power of a combined maximum ungoverned continuous rated power output of 200 watts or less.
