View full detailsWe sell three major types of electric bikes to make sure we have something for everyone. Let's take a look at these three types of e-bikes and what they might be best for:
Mountain bikes are versatile and super easy to ride, so many think they're the best for beginners and advanced riders alike. Electric bikes, thanks to their pedal assist functionality, are even easier to ride! Most customers like to use this feature to make cycling up steep hills easier on their commute or enjoy more trail riding without so much fatigue.
If you've had your eye on a particularly difficult biking trail recently but haven't made the plunge yet, now might be the perfect time to grab an electric mountain bike and finally enjoy the great outdoors!
Fat tyre bikes are often characterised by wider wheels that are usually over four inches wide. These offer better traction on the floor due to their wider surface area, avoiding slips and skids more than a traditional mountain bike. This is one of the reasons why many riders think they're great for beginners, both for commuting and bike trails.
Fat tyre electric bikes have the added benefit of pedal assist to make riding that much easier. These bikes tend to be heavier, too, so the motor can help you shoulder the weight of the bike to keep you riding longer and faster.
We also offer a selection of folding electric bikes that are perfect for smaller storage spaces and commuting riders. Many people think electric bikes are quite cumbersome and heavy, and some of the fastest models are. So, choosing one with a foldable frame is a great option if you're worried about not having the space to keep it.
Folding electric bikes work just like other types, with similar speeds and specifications. Their pedal assist helps you ride more easily and quickly to your destination, making them perfect for daily commutes and casual journeys. Due to their lighter weights, we wouldn't recommend these e-bikes for mountain trails and off-roading.
Before buying an electric bike, we always recommend brushing up on the laws and rules surrounding its use in your local area. Here are the rules regarding e-bike use on the Sunshine Coast:
An electric bike has a small electric motor designed to assist a rider which is no bigger than 200 watts.
The primary propulsion should be pedalling with just the assistance of a motor.
An electric bike can propel you up to 6km/hr without the need to pedal. Between 6km/h and 25km/hr, the motor assists you, with the power output decreasing as the speed increases.
At 25km/h, the electric motor must stop operating and you need to pedal to stay above this speed.
You'll need to wear an approved bicycle or motorbike helmet when travelling on public roads.
If your bike doesn't comply with these rules, you may be subjected to fines - so it's essential that you understand what you're responsible for. Keep reading here to learn more about the e-bike rules in Queensland.
Have we convinced you to buy your electric bike yet? Then we hope you'll love our free shipping offer for the entirety of Sunshine Coast! Or, if you're local, why not pop into our store and check out the e-bikes before you settle on the perfect one for you?
