View full detailsWe offer plenty of electric bikes for you to peruse, but these can be broken down into three main categories. Let's take a look at these to hopefully make finding your perfect electric bike easier:
Mountain bikes are perfect for exploring off-road adventures, and the pedal assist from the electric motor can make all the difference in your distance and fatigue at the end of your ride. Have you found a trail that you've not yet been able to conquer because it's just a little too far out of your reach? Then an electric mountain bike might be perfect for helping you achieve your goals and help you unlock more potential during your rides.
Fat tyre electric bikes are loved by many thanks to their comfortable wider tyres which can make it easier for you to ride over multiple terrains without feeling like you're working against the bike. However, the main issue people have with fat tyre bikes is their weight as this can make them more difficult to pedal, but with an electric motor, this issue is almost completely removed. You can enjoy all the benefits that come with a fat tyre bike when you have pedal assist to fall back on!
Another issue some have with electric bikes is their size and weight because not everyone has the space to store a large e-bike. However, that's exactly where folding electric bikes come in! These bikes offer you the best of both worlds, so don't let the concern of space ruin your dreams of e-riding! With our large collection, we have a range of e-bikes that can be folded to make them more portable and easier for you to move.
Before choosing your electric bike, it's important that you know the relevant laws surrounding e-riding. In Sydney, there are two types of permitted e-bikes to ride in public areas:
A power-assisted pedal cycle:
has one or more motors attached with a combined maximum power output of up to 200 watts
can't be propelled only by the motor/s
weighs less than 50 kg (including batteries)
has a height-adjustable seat.
An electrically power-assisted cycle has a maximum continuous rated power of up to 500 watts. This power output must be:
progressively reduced as the bicycle’s speed increases beyond 6km/h
cut off when:
your bicycle reaches a speed of 25 km/h
you stop pedalling and the speed exceeds 6 km/h.
As the rider, you must primarily propel these bikes and the motor can't be the only source moving it. The motor is allowed to assist you rather than being the main source of power.
