Electric Scooters Perth - Buy an E-Scooter in Perth

So you’d like to ride an electric scooter in Perth?

We love our scooters! iScoot has an excellent range to choose from, and we can help you choose the best scooter to match your needs. Whether you’re looking to improve your daily commuting times or experience, wanting the most powerful scooter on the market, or would like to enjoy more of this beautiful city – there’s a scooter for you.

Before you start adding scooter products to your shopping cart, there’s some things you should know first. We’ve prepared a summary for you to start with, but it’s important to make yourself aware of all the issues.

Can you ride electric scooters in Perth?

E-scooters which are compliant with current WA road traffic regulations can be legally ridden on paths and low speed public streets. Compliant electric scooters have a maximum power output of no more than 200 watts and they cannot travel more than 10 km/h on level ground.

Riders of electric scooters that are compliant with the relevant power output and speed regulations must also adhere to the following rules under the Road Traffic Code 2000:

  • Riders must wear a helmet;
  • Riders are permitted on footpaths and shared paths, so long as the rider keeps left and gives way to pedestrians;
  • Riders cannot ride on roads with a speed limit exceeding 50 km/h; or a dividing line or median strip;
  • Riders cannot ride on one-way streets with more than one marked lane; and
  • Riders cannot ride during the hours of darkness.

Once the legal restrictions are out of the way – as with most of WA, Perth is warm the majority of the year, with cooling sea breezes in Dec–Feb. Winter (Jun–Aug) can be wet and rainy, so take care not to get your e scooter wet! Perth does have some hilly areas too, so it’s important to take that into account when you search for your perfect scooter transportation.

Suggested locations where you can ride your electric scooter

  • Kings Park and Botanic Garden
  • Swan River
  • Shelley Foreshore, Canning River
  • Wembley Sports Park
  • Scarborough Beach Reserve and Skate Park
  • Brighton Beach to City Beach

Currently, Western Australian laws via the motor vehicle licensing branch stipulate that electric scooters must travel at 10km/h or less, and “must not be used on footpaths and paths designed for shared use by pedestrians and bicycles.” In Western Australia any unlicensed electric scooters may only be used on private property. These rules apply to petrol and electrical powered scooters and mini motorcycles. E-scooters which are compliant with current WA road traffic regulations can be legally ridden on paths and low speed public roads.
