9 OF THE BEST OFF ROAD ELECTRIC SCOOTERS

If your idea of fun involves thrilling, extreme sports, then taking an electric scooter for an off-road spin may be right down your alley. If you're new to the world of off road electric scooters - or you're looking for more information about which model is best for off-road activities, read on for our guide.

Just because an electric scooter can go fast and is of good quality, doesn't mean that it's appropriate to use off-road. Off-road electric scooters have special features that make them suitable for tough and rugged rides and outdoor activities. Off road electric scooters that are capable of handling harsher conditions will have powerful motors, high-speed options, good safety features, solid builds, and long-range capacity.

Below we explore eight different types of off road electric scooters that have the ability to hit terrains and trails at a goosebump-inducing speed - while still having the necessary safety features installed.

IMPORTANT FEATURES TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING AN OFF-ROAD ELECTRIC SCOOTER

The thrill of flying through the air and landing a two-metre jump on a dirt track - or successfully whipping through some dicey deep mud - is a feeling that's hard to beat. If this is a high you're chasing, then there are a few features that you should consider before investing in off road electric scooters.

Firstly, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that off-roading can be dangerous. We've all heard the horror stories about people who have ridden unprepared and suffered dire consequences. For this reason, you should be looking primarily at the safety features of the off road electric scooter. Things like high quality dual ABS brakes, solid suspension and thick tyres. Arguably the braking system is the most important feature to consider when buying an off-road electric scooter. Often, off road electric scooter riders can find themselves in situations where they need to brake suddenly so the braking system has to be able to handle this.

If you've all set safety-wise - which includes wearing the correct protective gear - you can then consider the fun stuff - like how fast the electric scooter can go. Some electric scooters are merely devices to get from one spot to another - these kinds of electric scooters may only have a max speed of 20km per hour. However, if you're ready to play with the big boy toys, you can find off road electric scooters that hit upwards of 100km her hour. This kind of off road electric scooter is for experienced riders who are looking to hit terrains at white knuckle-inducing speeds. You can check out our guide on the fastest electric scooters of 2021 here.

Another sought-after feature that passionate off road electric scooter riders value is the climbing capabilities of the vehicle. Climbing capabilities are judged at a percentage or degree. A slope can be measured in either degree or percentage - so the measurement is literal - it determines what degree or percentage incline or hill that the scooter can capably climb.

There's little more frustrating than speeding around some rugged terrain only to have your adrenaline rush killed when your scooter doesn't have enough power to quickly climb a hill. A scooter's climbing capabilities are mainly determined by the power behind the vehicle. Off road electric scooters with bigger motors that have a higher wattage have the ability to climb an incline better, without losing power.

Below is a brief table that examines each of the eight scooters and their brakes, climbing capabilities and speed.

Top Speed Climbing Capability Brakes

Dualtron Ultra 2 Up to 100km h 70% or 35 degrees Front and Rear disk brakes with ABS standard

CONCLUSION

Every single one of the eight scooters included in this article are actually all great options for riding off road. Each scooter has features that are specifically suited to off-roading.

However, if you're looking for the best of the best - it's hard to go past the Dualtron Ultra 2. This fast electric scooter is a mean speed machine clocking in a max speed of an agile 100km/hour. Thanks to its beefy Mac 6,640 watt BLFC dual hub motor, it doesn't falter when it comes to climbing grade either. The Dualtron Ultra 2 can comfortably tackle inclines of 70% or 35 degrees, depending on rider weight and state of charge.

The advanced safety features installed in the Dualtron Ultra 2 should help to keep you safe while off-roading, too. It has large tread tyres, a front and rear disc brake with ABS standard and stem lighting, dual LED headlight and taillight, brake light, which is great if you dare to go offroad at night time.

That being said, the Dualtron Pro 2 is one of the more premium options on the market and costs $6200. If you're looking for a mid-range option - that can still safely tackle perilous terrain at a fast speed, we would recommend the Kaabo Wolf King 11. This electric scooter can hit the same speed as the Dualtron Pro 2 - 100km per hour - but cat $4999, it costs significantly less.

Despite the lower price, the Kaabo Wolf King 11 is still a very impressive electric scooter, it has a powerful Dual - front 1000W + Rear 1500W motor that gives it impressive climbing capabilities of 70% or 35 degrees depending on rider weight and state of charge. Plus, it has a great braking system with its front and rear hydraulic disc with E-ABS brakes.

If you have a very strict budget but still harbour the need for speed - and off-road adventuring, it's still possible to find an electric scooter that can be the job well. If you have. budget of $3000 or less, we'd recommend the Carbon Oxy 10 Pro. This scooter can hit swift speeds of up to 70mk/ hour and has a relatively powerful Dual 1200w Motors Peak 1800 motor providing a total wattage of 3600w. At 30 degrees, it also has the same climbing range as the more pricey options, the Dualtron Pro 2 and the Kaabo Wolf King 11.

The Carbon Oxy 10 pro also has some fairly impressive safety features. It has thick ten inch tyres to help with traction and increase stability, and dual disk brakes dual and electric regenerative braking. The regenerative braking feature is an extra help to the dual disk brakes and slows down the vehicle by converting the kinetic energy into a form of braking. This feature helps to extend the lifespan of the braking system.
